Manchester United forward, Angel di Maria has passed a remarkable record at Benfica.
The Argentina international scored his first goal for the Portuguese club in their 1-0 win over C.D. Nacional on Saturday night. The goal was also the first time he had scored since joining the team from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last month.
In doing so, di Maria has now become the first player to score three goals in a single game in Portugal's top flight since Cristiano Ronaldo did it back in 2007.
It is not just the number of goals that have impressed fans and pundits alike. Di Maria has also been making life difficult for opposition defences, creating numerous chances and providing assists for his teammates.
His performances have seen him named man of the match in each of his two appearances for Benfica this season, and he has already scored four goals in all competitions.
Despite the impressive start to his career in Portugal, there are still concerns about how well he will adapt to life away from Manchester United. However, if di Maria continues to show the same level of form as he has thus far, he could go on to achieve even greater things at Benfica and beyond.
