RB Leipzig have confirmed that midfielder Dani Olmo has suffered a knee injury during training on Wednesday.
The Argentine international was involved in a collision with a teammate during the session, which resulted in him sustaining a serious injury to his right knee.
Olmo is currently undergoing tests and will be assessed by medical staff before a decision can be made on his future.
The news comes just days after RB Leipzig announced that they had signed Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City for an initial fee of €45 million.
The signing of Jesus could see Olmo's playing time reduced at the club, as the new arrival looks set to feature more prominently in the team's attack.
However, it remains to be seen how long Olmo will be out injured and whether he will make a full recovery.
In the meantime, RB Leipzig will need to find a suitable replacement for Olmo in their midfield, given his importance to the team's success this season.
Despite the setback, RB Leipzig fans will hope that Olmo's career is not over and that he will make a full recovery to return to action as soon as possible.
