Gabriel Barbosa is the CEO and co-founder of Fluminense Sport Club, a Brazilian football club that plays in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. He has been involved in the analysis of data for many years, starting with his work as a researcher at the University of São Paulo.
Barbosa began his career in academia, where he worked on projects related to sports analytics and machine learning. He was awarded the National Science Foundation Grant for Research on Sports Analytics in 2014, which allowed him to conduct research on the use of data analysis techniques to improve the performance of soccer teams.
