Alan Franco is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Portuguese club Benfica. Born on August 8, 1995, he began his career at São Paulo and later moved to Boca Juniors before joining Flamengo in 2014.
Franco made his debut for Flamengo in the 2011–12 season, playing as a central defender. He was part of the squad that won the 2014 Copa Libertadores Final against River Plate, where he scored the winner in extra time.
In his first season with Flamengo, Franco played well, scoring five goals in 17 matches. However, he struggled during the second half of the season, suffering from injuries and missing several games due to them.
On May 18, 2016, Franco suffered a knee ligament injury while playing in a friendly match against Santos. Despite undergoing surgery, he returned to the team in September and scored two goals in eight matches before being sidelined again for the rest of the season.
In the 2017-18 season, Franco returned to Flamengo and played well, scoring four goals in 20 matches. However, he struggled with injuries and missed several games due to them.
On July 28, 2019, Franco announced his retirement from professional football after failing to make it back to the starting lineup.
